CHILD ABUSE & NEGLECT RECOGNITION

Protecting children from child abuse and neglect takes a community effort. Educators, caregivers and professionals may be the first person to recognize suspected child abuse and neglect. It is important to be able to recognize it, and even more important to know the steps to take to report abuse and neglect. This course was developed for the purpose of providing information that will enable you to respond appropriately to suspected child abuse and neglect cases.

  • To identify neglect and abuse

  • Consequences of failing to report

  • Procedural guidelines

  • Protocols for reporting

  • Attorneys

  • Physicians, hospital interns, and residents

  • Dentists, podiatrists, practitioners of medicine, registered nurses

  • Other healthcare professionals

  • School psychologists, independent marriage/family therapists

  • Administrators or employees of certified child care agencies
